"Roof surveys will never be the same! FLIR infrared cameras instantly show you what's wet and what's dry. Water leakage is the number one factor that leads to damaged insulation and substrate, corrosion and weakening of metal decks and building structure, even structural collapse and the growth of mold. Infrared cameras can instantly find the ultimate source with little or no physical disassembly of the premises and minimal disturbance of inhabitants."

2020inspections Thermography roof inspections can find potential leaks and related damage before they become problems. The cost to replace a roof is measured in dollars per square foot and the cost to inspect a roof is measured in pennies per square foot. Thus, inspection is a cost effective technique to prolong the life of a roof.
Thermography roof inspections work on the principal that different materials in the roof have different thermal mass. In the daytime the sun heats the roof structure. After the sun sets the roof begins to cool. If there is a leak in the roof membrane the underside of the membrane will become wet. The wet membrane then will have a higher thermal mass than the rest of the "dry" roof structure. As a result of this difference the "wet" areas will maintain heat energy longer than other areas providing the infrared inspector with a clear picture of the damaged area.
